Telehealth and In-Person Portland

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in OR/WA/ID/FL and a CADC-I (OR), centered in Portland, Oregon, a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, and a 200-RYT yoga practitioner. I’m trained in touch methods, and practice both virtual and in-person touch work in SE Portland. I identify as a member of the queer community.

I received my Masters in Counseling Psychology at Santa Clara University (Santa Clara, CA) and my Bachelors in English Language & Literature from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor). I’m originally from the Midwest, but have lived all over the country and have lived in Portland for almost two decades now.

I offer individual therapy via telehealth, in-person and virtual touch work, and virtual movement and meditation groups that are all or partly covered by insurance, for adults and older teens. I lead with a foundation in social justice and racial equity, with an emphasis on working with marginalized populations (BIPOC, LGBTQ+, refugees and immigrants) who have experienced developmental or acute trauma, but I welcome others who just want to explore more about themselves and build more somatic and emotional awareness.

I view my role as guiding that process, to help you identify and process events and patterns that might be getting in the way of you becoming the best version of yourself, and primarily use somatic methods, particularly Somatic Experiencing, to do that, but also use Brainspotting, EMDR, mindfulness, expressive arts, movement, and behavioral techniques. My work is based on hope, and a strong belief in every person's ability to change, grow, and heal themselves, and influenced by Zen philosophy of acceptance, non-attachment, self-kindness, and non-judgment.

I’m generally not very directive, meaning that I ask clients to bring in what they want to focus on and don’t just decide that for our sessions, as that for me is aligned with being client-centered and working on what clients want to work on rather than what I might be interested in. I feel strongly that therapeutic collaboration with clients is crucial to treatment and try to tailor my treatment to every individual client, but bring in somatic elements with all my clients.

After a decade in this work, I find that the clients that I work best with are people who are in a space where they’re ready to do some deeper work, are willing to do work outside of therapy sessions, whether that’s grounding exercises, workbooks, or whatever they decide is best for them, and want to slow down and learn how to have a different relationship with their body.
